Crop insurance with minimal premiums — farmers pay 2% for kharif, 1.5% for rabi, 5% for commercial/horticultural crops.
PMFBY is the flagship crop insurance scheme covering all stages from sowing to post-harvest. The remaining premium is shared by the Central and State Governments. Cover includes natural fire/lightning, storms, drought, flood, pest attacks, and post-harvest losses for up to 14 days.
